Sinovoltaics: Virtual factory tours and an access platform

Virtual ToursWeb DevelopmentManufacturing

We worked with Sinovoltaics to turn factory footage into interactive tours of solar manufacturing facilities, then built the web platform used to manage access. The work covered tours for Tongwei and JA Solar, with production and development running through 2025 and into 2026.

Visitors could explore the factory panoramas, watch production videos and read explanations of the processes around them. Sinovoltaics' team used a separate dashboard to manage administrators and visitor access, including a manufacturer approval step for the JA Solar tour.

Building the factory tours

The filming team supplied the factory material, and we assembled the interactive experience. Working with Sinovoltaics' technical and marketing teams, we connected panoramas and matched each scene to its position in the manufacturing process.

Getting those relationships right took detailed review. A factory can contain several similar-looking areas, and the process names need to match what visitors actually see. We used a shared scene list to associate panorama filenames with their titles, descriptions and navigation links. Sinovoltaics supplied the manufacturing explanations and quality commentary.

The tours combined still panoramas with videos of the processes in motion. Information hotspots added scene descriptions and Sinovoltaics' quality insights, while the menu gave visitors a way to move between production stages.

For the Tongwei tour, we added a nine-second drone introduction and began loading tour assets while it played. We also added a skippable tutorial video to explain how to navigate the experience. The interface used Sinovoltaics' colours and typography, with revisions to labels and scene ordering following review by the client and factory teams.

Managing who can enter

The accompanying platform handled the steps around viewing a tour. Visitors could submit an access request, and the administrators responsible for that tour received an email notification. For JA Solar, the manufacturer could approve or reject requests before visitors entered through the verification process.

Sinovoltaics staff had an administration panel for managing access and administrator invitations. We supported the invitation and password-reset flows and continued refining them as the team began using the system. By February 2026, the approval workflow was handling visitor requests; subsequent correspondence records ongoing administration and access support.

The platform also provided overall tour data for the client team to review. This gave Sinovoltaics a place to manage the tours after production, alongside the visitor experience itself.

Keeping the content and platform working together

Tour production continued alongside platform development. We updated both factory tours as revised descriptions and interview videos arrived, corrected scene links and added missing information. Feedback from Sinovoltaics and the manufacturers fed into those revisions.
