KRP: Oil and gas emergency-training demo

VRG developed an oil-refinery emergency-response demonstration with Kiwi Resource Protection (KRP). A trainee enters a virtual refinery, operates equipment and responds to instructions from a control room while an incident develops.

Following an emergency scenario

The scenario begins with a gas alarm and a request to investigate. The trainee locates the leak, operates valves and responds as the situation escalates. The exercise brings equipment interaction and communication into the same sequence, including instructions to evacuate.

Refining the demonstration

KRP reviewed the equipment layout and behaviour. Revisions included a second control valve, pressure-gauge behaviour and the position and appearance of the fire-water monitor. Updated visuals were supplied for review in June 2023. Thai control-room voice recordings were reviewed in July so the instructions would fit the scenario.

The preview shows the valve interaction in the demonstration. This project illustrates an approach to simulated emergency practice; it is presented as a demo, with no claim of a certified training programme or measured safety outcome.
